International Student Office (ISO)

International Student Office (ISO) at UCLA Extension will guide you throughout your stay in the United States and your studies in the Pre-Master’s Preparation; the Pre-Master’s Preparation Advisor can assist you with visa and immigration issues.

ISO Services include counseling on:

  • Document preparation for F-1 student visas
  • Visa status changes
  • Transfers from one school to another
  • Temporary travel outside the U.S.

The International Student Office (ISO) must be notified and approve any of the below-listed actions. We will record them and update your status in the U.S. Government Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

You must make an appointment with the ISO for an interview and bring your passport, I-20, and other necessary documents to the meeting.

Arrival/Report in to school By or before Orientation
Transferring from another school into UCLA Extension By or before Orientation
I-20 travel signature 5 working days before travel
New I-20 5 working days in advance
Transferring to another school 15 working days in advance (/within 60 days of end of current program)
Program extension 10 working days in advance
Leave of absence 10 working days in advance
Adding a certificate program 5 working days prior to end of current program.
Change of legal name 5 working days after change
Departure At beginning of last quarter
